Whats this all about then?

About 11 years I decided to give up owning a car and since then have tended to walk more and more, its cheap and easy and you see things that you would never see any other way and once you have learnt your own pace and capabilities you can very accurately predict your journey times. In the last couple of years, I have started to set myself long distance challenges as a means of keeping fit and enjoying the countryside. This year I have added to my experiences by writing of my journeys and keeping a photo-journal and found the experience of sitting down the next day and reflecting has greatly enriched the experience for me.

I'm going to get the ball rolling by adding what I have done so far this summer and having something to add to should push me to keep it going. I have never written a blog before, so it will be a learning experience for me, but I will try and provide useful links of other sites that have helped me plan, research and learn about the places I visited - I would imagine it would be good manners to ask permission before I link so please bear with me on that.

I don't just want to restrict my subject matter to walking alone, so other days out and about with the empahasis on getting out there will be fair game.

Thanks Sally, I'll keep all posting all future stuff on OOTG too for the benefits of all non-blogger types.
